At the beginning of the month, Gentle World hosted an event that attracted over 70 vegans, for a beautiful day of education and celebration.
In the year 2000, when Gentle World first came to the Big Island, there was no vegan movement to speak of. Now we have much to celebrate: The Vegan Aloha group, which hosts numerous vegan events every year (including several with Will Tuttle) the Evolution Bakery and Cafe, where you can frequently find lines out the door, and now Herbivores, The Big Island’s very first vegan fast food drive-thru!
It was especially heartening to get to know the many vegan children, some of whom have been vegan since birth, representing a whole new breed of humane beings. Yes, things are changing here on this island, and we wanted to take an opportunity to let our local vegan community know how appreciative we are of the efforts of everyone involved.
We were fortunate enough to receive support, once again, from a host of generous sponsors whose products were shared with our attendees, and which will help to sustain the year-round education of visitors to our center.
Our thanks go out to everyone who helped make the event a great success, including the team of temporary volunteers whose hands and hearts were invaluable on November 5th and otherwise!
