The roots of my beliefs will now be built upon the values and teachings of veganism.
Abby and Hein came to Gentle World at the beginning of April. At the young age of 18, they were both excited and enthusiastic for the opportunity to learn new skills and see life from a new perspective.
While Abby had been practicing veganism since the age of 13, Hein described himself as wanting to transition to veganism and learn more about how to live a more sustainable and ethical life:
“I want to learn to live in more alignment with my values… I hope to leave with a much deeper understanding of veganism and its importance to our society.”
Here are the touching and insightful words he left behind in our guestbook:
Thank you, Gentle World family, for inviting me into your beautiful center with open arms. My time here was a million times better than I expected.
I learned so much about veganism, vegan food, and growing food. I was introduced to many movies and documentaries that really opened my eyes to animal cruelty and all the behind-the-scenes of where animal products come from.
I am very happy that I have made the decision—which may be the best decision I’ll ever make—to become vegan! I hope to do my part in ending animal cruelty and saving our beautiful planet by learning more about veganism and being the best version of myself.
As someone who loves to cook, I’ll be implementing a lot of your recipes into my diet and sharing them with loved ones. I hope to take all that I’ve learned from here and improve my life and many others. The roots of my beliefs will now be built upon the values and teachings of veganism.
My time at Gentle World reminded me that veganism is truly my calling in life.
And how about Abby? After sharing that she hoped to leave Gentle World with “an even deeper understanding of veganism,” here’s what Abby said at the time of her departure:
Being vegan for five years, I thought I already knew everything there was to know about veganism. My time in Gentle World has taught me so much about what it means to be part of the vegan community, and has reignited my passion for animals tremendously.
I am leaving here feeling not only more in tune with myself and my values, but also with Mother Nature. I am looking forward to spreading the message of veganism with the souls I meet on my journey, as well as those I connect with through the online realm.
Gentle World reminded me that veganism is truly my calling in life, and I hope to bring about as much change as I can. I will take what I have learned here with me forever.
And after sharing that they’d be happy to put their social media skills to use during their stay, Abby and Hein really followed through by helping us to produce our first vegan recipe video for Instagram!
