Several years ago, I was browsing in a small health food store when I caught sight of an essential oil diffuser vigorously pumping a fine mist into the air. Not having seen a nebulizing diffuser before, I was quite intrigued.
I’ve finally had the chance to really learn what they’re all about now that our organization has been gifted one of the exquisitely beautiful diffusers from the range made by Organic Aromas.
Unlike ordinary diffusers, a nebulizing diffuser doesn’t use heat or water, as high temperatures can reduce the therapeutic benefits of essential oils by altering their composition. The nebulization process, on the other hand, causes instant evaporation using a high velocity, pressurized air stream along with a specially designed jet nozzle, forcing essential oils to break down into very tiny, absorbable particles which are quickly absorbed. It can also diffuse aromas across a wide area in a very short amount of time.
There are a myriad of good reasons to use an essential oil diffuser, from lifting or calming one’s mood, to natural air freshening and disinfecting.
Cleaning air frequently through diffusion can help to keep the flu, colds, and other illnesses away by eliminating microbes such as bacteria and viruses, as many essential oils (such as oregano, thyme, and cinnamon) are antimicrobial, and when they’re diffused, they can eliminate airborne pathogens. Some oils also have compounds that have been shown to support your respiratory system and help boost immunity, such as eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender, lemon, cloves, cinnamon, and rosemary.
Diffusing can also help to purify the air by decreasing the amount of dust and other allergens such as pet hair and dander, dust mites, mold and mildew. Apparently the ionizing effect of a diffuser helps to reduce dust in the air as negative ions attach themselves to positive ions, causing dust to fall to the ground.
But one of the primary reasons some of us are hooked on diffusing is for the positive impact on our mental health. Aromatherapy can help to relieve stress and anxiety, as well as promoting energy and focus. And diffusing a space with a pleasant scent can help to create an uplifting or soothing feeling.
Organic Aromas have been making nebulizing diffusers for close to 15 years. Their diffusers are produced in the company’s own building in Taipei, Taiwan, and they make a point of describing their materials as high-quality, and their manufacturing practices as ethical.
Hand-crafted by artisans, engineers and experts to be “a functional work of art,” the glass reservoirs are hand-blown and the wood bases are individually crafted. They’re genuinely elegant, and are stunningly ornamental on a desk or end table.
Their diffusers are also durable and heavy-duty, and are intended to last for years, which is a refreshing change from so many products which are designed to be disposable. Their website states that they stand behind their products “absolutely.”
As well as a variety of different nebulizing diffusers, Organic Aromas also provides a range of essential oils, including some beautiful gift boxes and what sounds like a fantastic sampler collection.
It’s definitely worth tuning in to their website and social media pages, if for no other reason than that you might end up being one of the lucky folks who benefits from one of their weekly giveaways!
