Cooking has always been a passion of mine growing up and I’ve always enjoyed experimenting with food. My goal here is to serve good vegan comfort food for everyone to enjoy.
Some readers might remember Hein from his visit to Gentle World back in April of 2022, and the touching testimonial he left at the end of his time with us.
At the young age of 18, in his early correspondence with us, Hein described himself as wanting to transition to veganism and learn more about how to live a more sustainable and ethical life:
“I want to learn to live in more alignment with my values… I hope to leave with a much deeper understanding of veganism and its importance to our society.”
Here are the touching and insightful words he left behind in our guestbook:
“Thank you, Gentle World family, for inviting me into your beautiful center with open arms.
I learned so much about veganism, vegan food, and growing food. I was introduced to many movies and documentaries that really opened my eyes to animal cruelty and all the behind-the-scenes of where animal products come from.
I am very happy that I have made the decision—which may be the best decision I’ll ever make—to become vegan! I hope to do my part in ending animal cruelty and saving our beautiful planet by learning more about veganism and being the best version of myself.
I hope to take all that I’ve learned from here and improve my life and many others. The roots of my beliefs will now be built upon the values and teachings of veganism.”
While both Abby and Hein loved spending their time helping to plant and tend to the Gentle World garden, it was clear to us all that Hein had a remarkable talent in the kitchen, and we’re thrilled to see that he’s now putting his culinary skills to excellent use by starting his own vegan business!
We wish Chef Hein all the best in his admirable vegan endeavor, and encourage our supporters to spread the word to their friends in Chapel Hill. ✌️
