Back in 1970, when Gentle World founders Light and Sun became vegan, there was no animal rights movement, no online education, and no other vegans that they knew.
Never having yet heard the word, nor having met anyone else who shared their perspective, they didn’t even realize at that time that they weren’t completely alone in the realization.
As their knowledge grew about the different aspects of the animal trade, they abandoned, one by one, the foods and fabrics they had previously taken for granted. Upon actually becoming vegan, they buried their leather, wool and fur with a funeral ceremony, honoring the individuals killed for these materials.
Not only did they begin living the vegan life before they even knew that this philosophy was shared by others (very few others, at the time), but they created in Gentle World an intentional community and educational organization that has continued to evolve and prosper over multiple decades of public service.
With 52 years of vegan life under his belt, Light’s extraordinary experience has given him a unique perspective that is guaranteed to inspire, and to warm the hearts of those who listen. Below are just a few of the shows he’s been interviewed for recently, with more on the way!
Our thanks go to Kathleen Gage, Victoria Moran, and Jim Moore, for the opportunity to reach their audiences with Gentle World’s aspirational message.
